it’s got to be??? I lived right above this abt ten years ago, like we’d hop down to the alley and in their side door without ever touching the sidewalk??? And now I’m suddenly missing it so much.
the conflagration around twitter and all its clones got me back here and just… remembering how I still do love this site more than any other platform, it works with my brain in a nice cozy way, thé separate from the world weird detached anonymous rabbit hole nature can be nice, but it’s also why it can’t work as a replacement unfortunately…
Found a very nice little niche of writing-adjacent trans femme twitter, plus an expanded advocacy and news trans ecosystem, and now trans people are getting run off the elon musk nazi show with basically nowhere for that community to land. Like probably more than any social media breakdown ever I’m like seriously distressed about losing my community and friends

i fucking love how earnest tumblr culture is. we are the site of wizard roleplayers and heritage blogs and gimmick blogs and stupid fucking puns and catgirls and silly made up holidays and day-of-the-week posts and site lore and every single bit of cynicism or cringe at that is always met with “why are you here then?” “if you want to be miserable, go be miserable out of my way” and i think thats nice. i think its nice we like being happy.
my only addition to the proliferation of pride flags is that honestly someone should just start making pride flags that are for the most part inoffensive but then like give the meanings of the stripes like absurdly controversial microcommunity discourse. like “here’s my pride flag - the stripes represent all the different types of attraction in the split attraction model, the maroon represents that bisexuality represents being attracted to the two binary genders, the green stands for lesbian bed death, and the stars represent the amount of hypervisibility that trans women use to take up all the space and oppress afab trans people via invisibility and the labrys represents lesbians who are into men (cis men only, obviously). nothing it in represents gay men because they are not oppressed” creating perhaps the most hated object in the queer community and uniting us all
good job op, the sheer memory of these discourse highlights made me seethe. so of course I made the flag you described.
okay wow. spread this like wildfire for the people in the back or else you dont care about our community, why is nobody talking about this. the discoursegender flag
Several women have received uterus transplants from living or deceased donors. Researchers now argue that such transplants may also be made available to transgender women.
“[A] uterus transplant is the only option that allows women with UFI the opportunity to carry and deliver their own babies,” says Kathleen E. O'Neill, MD, MTR, co-principal investigator of Penn Medicine’s Uterus Transplantation for Uterine Factor Infertility trial.
Some babies have been delivered this way, but it will take time before this procedure is offered to all at fertility clinics. At the moment the treatment is extremely costly. But that may change.
Dr. Aimee Eyvazzadeh, a reproductive endocrinologist based in the San Francisco Bay Area, tells Salon that transgender females are also good candidates. However, she is not aware of a transgender woman having a uterine transplant yet.
A paper published in the International Journal of Transgender Health, Loren Schechter and her colleagues presents a proof of concept for transgender recipients. So, yes, in the future, such transplant will most likely be possible.

So I want this pretty desperately but also having watched a partner go thru the birth process this prospect is fucking terrifying and it feels really complicated even on like the ethics of how you would study this to prove safety
TNG: “How do we define a person? How to we define a life? Can a person’s autonomy be subverted if it is for the greater good?”
Also TNG: “So the ship is pregnant and needs us to get to an energy source so it can have its baby.”
DS9: How do we move forward in the wake of catastrophe? Where do we draw the line between justice and revenge? When do we stand up and take responsibility for our society?
Also DS9: The senior staff are trapped in a board game to teach the bartender a lesson.
#I think part of Star Trek’s success is that it understand you need both#also why the newer and grittier Star Treks haven’t had the same charm#you need the goofiness to balance the serious philosophical conundrums
There’s a reason you can’t just have tense moment followed by tense moment and i’m fucking pissed that we are at a point, as a society, where ‘constant higher and higher stakes’ is actually being taught in creative writing classes as default/correct. It’s not. It’s not and you know it in your heart it’s not.
the lotr films love to present gimli as the ugly, dirty, ignorantly rude
comic relief when the reality is that aragorn is a sweaty, grimy,
greasy-haired ranger who sleeps rough on the road and maybe bathes once a
month, and legolas is a feral cat who eats dirt and sleeps in trees and threatens
anyone who tries to start shit with his friends with a notched arrow to the skull regardless of the potential consequences,
while gimli is a dwarf prince who actually acts the part, is
well-educated and mannered, has a strong sense of honor and duty,
appreciates song, poetry and other fine arts and crafts as well as food
and drink, and is actually probably the cleanest member of the three
hunters. anti-dwarf propaganda never sleeps.
headcanon that during their time in the wild together chasing merry and
pippin aragorn and legolas started behaving more and more oddly and
gimli wasn’t sure whether it was because they were becoming friends so
they felt they could be more like themselves around each other or if
they were just fucking with him, but either way he was too afraid to ask
aragorn: *crouches down* *picks up a fistful of soil and starts chewing it thoughtfully* the uruk-hai are heading east
gimli: you can tell that just from the dirt?
aragorn: what? oh no, i figured that out from these tracks here. this is just a snack.
gimli:
legolas: *tears a strip of moss from one of the trees in fangorn forest and starts munching on it as they walk*
